Sankata temple

Sankata Temple is a famous Hindu temple located in Te Bahal, near Ason in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal. It is dedicated to Goddess Sankata, who is believed to remove troubles, dangers, and sufferings from the lives of her devotees. The word “Sankata” means problem or distress, so people visit this temple to pray for relief from difficulties.
The temple is especially important to the Newar community of Kathmandu. Many devotees visit every Saturday, which is considered a special day for worship. During festivals and special religious occasions, the temple becomes very crowded with worshippers offering flowers, oil lamps, incense, and food to the goddess.
