late season fishing shelter

in #tent11 days ago

I do a lot of fishing in late autumn and early spring. The weather is unpredictable and cold. I need a shelter that I can set up near the lake to warm up in and maybe sleep if we stay overnight. Needs to be wind resistant and warm. What do you guys use for basecamps?

I use a Panda Medium for exactly this. It is the perfect size for 2-3 people and gear. Since it is a winter tent with stove jack, we bring a small titanium stove. We can fish for a few hours, get freezing cold, and then go into the tent to warm up and make coffee on the stove. It handles wind really well because of the shape and the guy lines. It is nice having a warm HQ to retreat to. Just make sure you stake it down well if you are out on open ground near the water.
