RE: Call for more tools on the testnet!

in #testnet7 years ago

Adding SteemSQL on testnet is something I would like to do, but unfortunately, it would be way too expensive. The main reasons are the size of the database (~1TB) and the cost of a high performance infrastructure to provide decent performances with such a DB.

One possible solution would be to have the SteemSQL engine process the testnet blocks, but not inject them into a database. This would ensure compatibility of SteemSQL with new blockchain structures/features. Is that what you wanted when mentioning SteemSQL here or did you expect more?

It is up to you. Something would be better than nothing :)

The size of the testnet blockchain though is way less than the mainnet one. You may be able to provide full support at a much lower cost than you expect.

Added to my todo list! I will probably do it after SteemFest 😅
