It is a common fact that most Nigerians eat outside than at home. The reason is mostly due to the nature of our jobs. We work from 8am to 6pm daily.

We wake up so early around 5am to go to work and beat the traffic. So many don't eat breakfast at home. We eat this at work.

Most hours are spent in traffic. Those living in Lagos state will understand this better.

The only time we are ever at home is weekend. So mostly, we eat at home on Saturday & Sundays.

We mostly use buka or what some call 'mama put'. A buka/mama put is a local place for local food. It is different from normal eatery.

My favorite place to eat is Mama Titi's Buka. It is a buka located in Egbeda area of Lagos, Nigeria.

It is on the street. You can buy takeaway there but mostly, people sit there to eat their food.

The kind of food you can get there are purely local food. They are mostly food we eat in south west area of Nigeria.

She serves food such as eba (casava flour), amala (yam flour), semovita, white rice, etc. These are served with vegetables, soup and assorted beef, chicken, turkey and many more.

Her services are very friendly. She greets you with a smile. She dishes the food herself while her employees do the cooking, serving and the rest. You will love to go there again because of her hospitality.

Don't see it as a strange thing that she dishes the food herself. Trust is a big issue in a setting not so organized like a buka. So owners often monitor everything that comes in and go out.

It is a very old establishment. She has been selling right after she got married from the information i got. Many people of my age said they grew up seeing her sell in the vicinity.

I eat there weekly. Anytime i go to work, i patronise her. The only time i don't eat there is weekend or during holidays.

I couldn't visit the place since this lockdown and pandemic. I work from home now so i haven't had the chance to visit the place. I have really missed the buka.

What i look forward to eat there? I have really missed her amala (yam flour) and vegetable. That is the first thing i will eat as soon as i resume.

Special memories? Yeah! It was there i met my best female friend. We've been friends for 3 years now and we are like family today. We always talk about the experience and how it all started st the buka.

I honestly can't wait to resume work and enjoy my meal. Hopefully, this pandemic will be over soon for me to enjoy my meal once again.
