THE DAIRY GAME: SPENDING MY CHRISTMAS AT MY DUTY POST: {25TH DECEMBER, 2024}

Hi lovely Steemians, I want to take a moment to appreciate the season of love, joy, and giving that Christmas brings. While many of us cherish this special day with family and friends, there are times when duty calls, and we find ourselves celebrating in unique ways. With that in mind, I am delighted to share my experience of how I spent my 25th December on duty with my patients. I'm sure you would like it 🤩

The 25th of December, is a day of celebration and festivity, this day found me within the walls of the hospital, attending to my duty as a dietitian. While many people spent their day with family and friends, sharing gifts and enjoying holiday meals, I chose to celebrate in the company of my patients. It was a day filled with compassion, service, and small moments of joy amidst the responsibilities of healthcare.

I began the day early, with a short morning devotion to center myself and draw strength for the task ahead. Arriving at the hospital, I was greeted by a festive atmosphere. The staff had decorated the wards with colorful lights and ornaments, lifting the spirits of both patients and caregivers. I started my rounds in the pediatric ward, where I met children battling malnutrition. I provided counseling to their mothers on the importance of nutrient-dense foods, even during the festive season. It was heartwarming to see their faces light up with hope as I encouraged them to stay consistent with the treatment plans😊🥰

In the afternoon, I joined a small team of colleagues to distribute special holiday meals tailored to each patient’s dietary needs. Despite their illnesses, many patients expressed their gratitude and shared stories of their favorite Christmas memories. This interaction brought a sense of warmth and belonging, making the hospital feel less clinical and more like a community. By evening, I returned to the dietetics office to complete reports and reflect on the day's activity. Though the work was demanding, it was immensely fulfilling to have made a difference in the lives of my patients, even on such a special day💕🙌

In retrospect, spending Christmas on duty with my patients was not a loss to me but a meaningful way to embody the spirit of the season by giving, serving, and sharing love. This experience reminded me that the true essence of this Yuletide season is found in selfless acts of kindness and the joy of bringing hope to others 🌹
