Today, I went to the funeral of a church member in the village of Mbak Ikot Awa, situated in the Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The occasion was both somber and significant, showcasing the love, unity, and faith of the church community and the larger village. The deceased had been a devoted member of the church, so it was appropriate for the congregation to come together to celebrate her life and support her family.

Our journey to Mbak Obio Itam commenced early in the morning, with church members gathering at the church to board buses for transportation. The trip had a serene atmosphere, punctuated by soft conversations and uplifting gospel music. Upon reaching our destination, we received a warm welcome from the family and villagers, who had prepared the venue for the service. The setting was tranquil, surrounded by tall palm trees and traditional homes, reflecting the charm of village life.
