THE DIARY GAME: MY EASTER DAY CELEBRATION AT THE HOSPITAL WITH COMPASSION-(03/03/2026)
Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I want to take a moment to reflect on how I spent my Easter this year. While many were enjoying the holiday with their families, I was at the hospital, working as a dietitian. Although it was a busy day, I felt fulfilled and grateful for the chance to support my patients and colleagues during this holiday. Here’s a brief look at how my Easter unfolded at the hospital.

My day started early as I arrived at the hospital. The morning was calm, but my upcoming responsibilities were already on my mind. As part of the on-call team for the holiday, I was in charge of making sure everyone had meals for the day. My first task was to distribute food supplies to the chefs preparing meals for those on duty, ensuring we would all be nourished and energized for the day ahead. The menu featured fried rice and chicken—wholesome meals for everyone.

After making sure the kitchen was organized and food was ready, I headed to the ward to check on patients with specialized diets. It’s crucial for me to connect with these patients, adjusting their diet plans to ensure they receive the necessary nutrients for their recovery. A few required modifications, which I noted and incorporated into their meal plans. I also saw new patients, assessing their conditions and putting together customized treatment plans that included specific dietary needs. Ensuring that the nutrition aligns with their medical treatment is essential for positive outcomes.

Once I finished the patient reviews and consultations, I returned to the kitchen to oversee the preparation of the fried rice and chicken. It’s rewarding to ensure that the meals not only meet nutritional guidelines but are also tasty and enjoyable for the staff on call. After the meal was ready, I went back to the ward to serve everyone, including the hardworking healthcare team.
After enjoying the meal, I finally took a moment to unwind. Once I completed my hospital duties, I returned home. I freshened up, cooked dinner, and took some time to relax. Although the day was long and demanding, I felt a sense of achievement knowing I made a difference for my patients and colleagues during the holiday.

In conclusion, while the day was filled with responsibilities and hard work, it reaffirmed my passion for my work. It wasn’t a traditional Easter with family, but it was a day of giving, caring, and impacting others positively. I’m grateful for the experience and proud to have approached the day with dedication and purpose.
I hope everyone had a joyful Easter, and I encourage you to always seek ways to positively impact those around you.
