THE STORY
I had troubles sleeping so I went to bed late at about 10pm. Few minutes before 12am, I was woken up by the sudden disturbance of my son. Since we both were lying on the same bed, I turned him so he could suckle but found out that he was very hot. This has never happened before I said to myself, maybe he is about erupting a tooth I concluded. I immediately gave him 2.5mls of paracetamol syrup, and while feeding him with breastmilk, I dozed off but woke up suddenly by 1am to find my son breathing without ease. I tried to change his sleeping position but he was very hot, every part of his body, including his palms. That was how I called the attention of people at home. I managed to repeat another dose of paracetamol and tepid sponged him ( cleaning him with warm water), hoping that the fever subsides.
I couldn't sleep at all. I brought my phone by 2am and called my husband so that he would know the situation of things.

THE EMERGENCY CLINIC VISIT
I was praying for dawn to come so as to rush to the hospital with him as instructed by my husband and when it finally came, I only changed his diaper and clothes and by off, we went to the clinic.
We got to the clinic few minutes past 6:30am and I enquired from the nurses I met about the whereabouts of the doctors. To my greatest surprise, they said the doctors come by 8 or 9 am. Since I couldn't wait because of the severity of the case. We went to another hospital whose matron, I worked with when I was still on I T. I had called her earlier and told her the urgency of the matter.
Upon arrival at the second hospital, the nurses that were on night shift had already prepared an injection to give to my son to calm the fever first as instructed by the matron since she was yet to come; she was on morning shift.

I got a relief immediately that injection was given to him and when he started sweating profusely.

THE BIRTH
A heavily pregnant woman walked in with her bags as the nurse was administering the injection to my son. She was in her second stage of labour. She was given a bed and asked to unpack her things, she was about entering the ward when her water broke.

Immediately, she was taken to the labour ward and before the nurse could bring out her folder, the baby's head started coming out. She called the attention of the nurses and before 2minutes, she had delivered a baby girl. My younger sister that accompanied me to the clinic was in awe.

EXCHANGE OF PLEASANTRIES
When the matron finally came at about 7:40am, we exchanged pleasantries as we've not seen since I got married and she immediately took me to her office for clerking. IMG_20210909_082237_666.jpg]()
She gave my son another injection after the clerking and gave me the list of drugs to buy and their adminstration. We stayed a little while for my baby to finish eating and left for the house. Immediately we got home, I went to the pharmacy to get the said drugs and administered the first dose.
