Yesterday began on a very good note, and from the moment I woke up, I felt determined to make the best of it. I started my day with my usual morning rituals, which always help me feel organized and calm. After that, I headed straight to the kitchen to prepare food for my children to take to school. I made one of our family favorites a delicious jollof rice. Seeing them excited about their lunch made me smile and gave me a sense of joy and fulfillment.

the dresses I washed

Once the kids were off to school, I moved on to house chores. I did the laundry and made sure to wash their school uniforms and socks thoroughly. It took some time, but by 12 noon I was completely done. I felt tired but satisfied, knowing I had accomplished a lot already before midday.

After finishing the chores, I took my bath and got ready to go to the hospital. Some of my friends might have noticed that I haven’t been very active in the past two weeks. The truth is that I was very sick during that time. Thankfully, I am responding well to treatment now, and I’m truly grateful for that. I’ll definitely write a special post later to share my experience and the lessons I’ve learned from it.

At the hospital, I didn’t spend much time since it wasn’t my first visit. I simply took my injection and left. When I got home, I received a call from my husband. He told me that his elder brother was with him at our building site. Without wasting time, I dressed up and drove there to meet them. My husband wanted to show him the progress of the building.

Big bro and me

Seeing my brother-in-law was such a delight. He was so happy to see me and kept teasing me with sweet names like “sweet sweet” and “princess.” He is such a joyful person, full of positive vibes. He lives in another local government area, so it was very thoughtful of him to visit us when he came back from offshore work. He was genuinely happy for us and impressed with the progress. The workers were still busy, with electrical fittings and painting ongoing. I felt really happy and proud seeing how far the building has come.

I had a short but meaningful discussion with my brother-in-law and also chatted briefly with the workers before leaving, as it was almost time to pick up the kids from school. I drove straight there and picked them up. By the time we got home, it was already past 4 p.m. They took their baths and got ready for our midweek Christian meeting, which starts by 6 p.m.

on our way to Kingdom hall

We arrived about eight minutes late, but the meeting was refreshing and faith-strengthening. Unfortunately, the injection I took earlier began to affect me badly, so I couldn’t stay till the end. I had to rest in the car. We left the Kingdom Hall by 8 p.m., and once we got home, I changed my clothes and went straight to bed because of fever.

Despite everything, it was truly a good day; full, meaningful, and worth being grateful for.
