Goodybest's Diary (Friday 12 Dec): A Day Filled With Love And Simple Joy
Hey there, friends!
I hope your week is going well. Today, I want to share with you a little story about last Friday, which was a day that turned out to be simple, meaningful, and truly memorable.
Friday was fun because I went out to meet with friends and new people, unlike my usual days, yes I attended a friend’s wedding with my family. It was my very first time attending a wedding on a Friday, which is quite unusual here in Nigeria since weddings are mostly held on Saturdays or Sundays. The newlyweds had their reasons, and in the end, the occasion was simple, peaceful, and successful.
As a mother, my day usually begins so early. I start with thanksgiving to the Almighty for life, protection, and sustenance, committing the entire day into His hands. After that, I prepared breakfast, yeah it was not elaborate, just toasted bread served with tea. It was simple, neat, and satisfying.
Next, I cleaned the house, took my shower, and headed out to my children’s school to collect their results. My daughter accompanied me (she's my new handbag) hahaha. I took time to chat briefly with each of their class teachers, thanking them and giving a little tip in appreciation for being second parents to my children. The kids' performance was excellent! And it's something I'm grateful for.
I returned home around 11:30 a.m. and immediately began preparing for the wedding. I ironed my dress, dressed the kids, and made sure we were all ready. By noon, we set out for the wedding venue.

The ceremony began with a beautiful song titled Unfailing Love. It was such a touching way to start, reminding the couple of the importance of cultivating enduring love for one another. The marriage talk that followed was deeply encouraging; not only for the newlyweds but also for those who have been married for years. Each partner was reminded of their roles: the husband to love his wife as himself and be ready to sacrifice for her, and the wife to show deep respect for her husband. Above all, they were encouraged to make Jehovah, the Originator of marriage, their third cord.
The exchange of vows was emotional yet joyful, filling the atmosphere with love and happiness. Audience were clapping and shouted when each of them took their vows. The ceremony ended with the song entitled: What God Has Yoked Together and a heartfelt prayer.

There was no reception. Instead, food and drinks were handed to guests as they exited the main hall. I think this decision was practical, especially for couples who are not financially bouyant, it helps in cutting cost. The couple stayed outside to take photographs, and I also took several pictures with my siblings and friends before we all departed.
After dropping my children off at home, I went to the market to buy foodstuffs, ingredients for Afang soup and stew. On my way back, I stopped by my seamstress to pick up a dress I planned to wear for a special program the next day. Once home, I prepared the soup, and we enjoyed it for dinner. Afterward, I took my shower and retired for the night, grateful and fulfilled.
It was a long but beautiful Friday, one filled with love, family, friendship, and meaningful moments. 💕 My best wishes for the newlyweds!
