Pray for Aceh: a temporary emergency post for residents of Gampong Blang
The flood disaster that struck Gampong Blang in the past few days has truly left deep scars and damage for the residents. The floodwaters, caused by prolonged heavy rain and the breach of the Krueng Pasee River embankment, inundated almost the entire village, including homes filled with thick mud. Many residents were forced to evacuate and seek safety as their homes became uninhabitable. In emergency situations like this, a temporary post was set up to accommodate affected residents.
This emergency post serves as a gathering place for residents who have lost their homes or are unable to return home. Although the facilities are very basic, this post has been a lifeline for many. There are no soft mattresses, no comfortable rooms, only makeshift mats, emergency equipment, and a few supplies donated by well-off residents and volunteers. Yet the atmosphere of togetherness and mutual support makes this post feel warm, despite the hardships.
Food at the post is also very limited. Residents can only eat once a day, and even then, it's a simple meal. Sometimes it's just plain rice and instant noodles, or simple side dishes obtained through community donations. But even with only one meal a day, there are no complaints. Instead, there's a sense of gratitude and sharing. Residents understand that in an emergency, food isn't the issue; rather, it's about surviving and getting through difficult times together. Mutual support, encouragement, and mutual support are the greatest strengths at this emergency post.
Despite the difficult situation, residents remain resilient. They understand that disaster is a test, and every trial brings a lesson. Some residents still return home occasionally to see their mud-covered homes, although they haven't been able to completely clean them. Seeing their homes in disarray is certainly heartbreaking, but gratitude remains that at least they and their families are safe.

The temporary emergency post in the village is a testament to the strong spirit of mutual cooperation and resilience of the community. In times of need, they remain grateful. In times of hardship, they continue to help one another. May the situation recover soon, the waters recede completely, and residents be able to return to their homes safely and start anew with new hope. May Allah SWT grant strength to all residents affected by this disaster.
