RE: A look back at the future

in #thoughts5 years ago

think that these days we are delving deeper into passive entertainment, passive consumption, materialism and the treating of people as disposable

Yep... Quite obvious even. We lost those core 'right' values at least 3 decades ago

And we are seeing the results of the shift now, and we have only gotten worse. Going forward, it is going to get much worse before it gets better.

Will it ever get better? The tools that encourage isolationism are embedded in materialism and at the same serves as tools for brainwashing us too. How can it get better when organic connection has been abandoned for fiber optic cables, 5g networks and so on?
I think that we have to begin networking organically again for there to be a return to the community that we used to have in the early days. The human race has become immune to pain, to death, to the horrors of war, of hate and everyone is saying, he is not mine, she us not of my people, so it is not my business. Some do not even want to see another person breathe the same air.

Is there hope for us? I am pessimistic by nature but I always keep hope alive by looking at those who still try to be angels, to do it right not for TV ratings, not for reviews, for endorsements, or awards but because it is right.

I too want to make that kind of connection that would toss my world upside down and make me question all that I know of the world but I'm a child of my society, I rarely step out of my room or talk to my neighbors. So... Tomorrow will tell what we have made of ourselves.

I have a feeling that social disconnection will eventually lead to a very strong pullback as automation and AI take the place of the tasks that we have come to define ourselves by, the ones that make us money. It'll get worse, before it gets better though, and I do not think that I will see that better, even as I work toward it.
