11/25/25 - 🎸Three Tune Tuesday! Picking Tunes From The Punk Band The Descendents 🎸1982-1987 Era Tunes!

Last week I covered eighties punk tunes from the legendary band Social Distortion! This week I go with eighties Punk band the Descendents!

In honor of my Cassette tapes coming in mail(mostly I use as decoration). This week for Three Tune Tuesday I will be presenting three tunes + a bonus tune from the band the Descendents. Focusing on there original run in the eighties and picking a tune from each of the 4 albums released in the 1980’s! They released one album in the nineties and one each decade this century but basically they were only full time through there original run from 1980-1987.

They released 4 of the most influential punk rock records in 1982/1985/1986/1987. Frankly of the lead singer Milo hadn’t of left to go be a scientist and get a masters degree, I believe they’d of eventually got mainstream success and been signed in the early nineties wave of alternative rock. Maybe or maybe not but the 3 instrument players got a new singer & started a new band instead of continuing on without there brother Milo. That band (ALL) All I s the he band name, did get a major record deal but kinda just never got even the punk following there former band did. Everybody wanted the Descrndents back. But ALL did have some great songs and since all the members wrote for the Descendents so some of the ALL songs early on would have been Descendents tunes.

Without the Descendents, bands like Blink-182 & MxPx wouldn’t exist. The Descendents rocked but they also had the first pop punk tunes that a band like Blink-182 would make millions off of copying just a decade plus later. Copying, being influenced by, whatever one it’s true. Ok ok let’s get into the music!

First up it’s the song “Suburban Home” from the first Descendents record 1982’s “Milo Goes To College”

Second time up is “Silly Girl” from the second Descendents record 1985’s “ I Don't Want to Grow Up”

Third tune up is the song “Sour Grapes” from the third Descendents record 1986’s “Enjoy”

For my Bonus pick let’s move right along in order and go to the fourth Descendents record “ALL” picking the song “Clean Sheets”
