I can recall reading about it, and as I understood it, you could purchase stickers to send to the creators, and those could be exchanged by the creator for cash. After being involved with blockchain for so long, I reflexively asked why not just make a token? I think it might have to do with getting around the crypto ban in China and the classification of digital tokens as securities.
