How I 'cured' my Tinnitus.

If you have tinnitus like I do and it’s driving you crazy like it did me and you want to be able to ignore it and not be bothered by it, keep reading because I will explain you how to.

Now don’t worry you don’t have to buy anything, pay anything or take anything because it will all take place in the mind. In fact you can start right now.

But first things first what is Tinnitus?

Tinnitus is the hearing of sound when no external sound is present. While often described as a ringing, it may also sound like a clicking, hiss or roaring. Rarely, unclear voices or music are heard. The sound may be soft or loud, low pitched or high pitched and appear to be coming from one ear or both. Most of the time, it comes on gradually. My Tinnitus started softly around 2012 and got a lot worse back in 2014. In 2012 it was hardly noticeable but when it exploded in 2014 I got really worried.
I started to look for answers looking for possible cures. So I started to read on forums what people had tried and tried them too without no succes,

Then it suddenly dawned on me, by looking for a cure I was telling my brain that Tinnitus was a problem. And my brain being there to protect me did what everyone would do, it kept an ‘eye’ or rather an ear on tinnitus. My brain kept focussed on it.

I studied hypnosis and I am an enthusiastic practitioner of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and I tried to figure out a way to let my subconscious mind know to forget about the Tinnitus. Because your brain can and does this all the time.

Ever had a fridge that wasn’t level? One that would produce a constant noise? Noticed that after a while you don’t hear the noise anymore? That’s your brain at work.
Whenever your subconscious mind knows that a sound has no relevance or isn’t any threat to your health being it will filter that sound out.

So the trick is to let your subconscious mind know that the Tinnitus is not a threat or of any importance.

Let’s start with the basics. Whenever you tell yourself something and you repeat it an x time amount eventually that something will stick in your subconscious mind. If you keep telling yourself that you are ugly you will perceive yourself as being so.

In case with tinnitus you have to repeat to your brain that tinnitus is no threat and that is done as follow.

Whenever your brain is focussing on the tinnitus, tell it that you acknowledge the tinntisus , you accept it as a part of you and that it is no threat and that you will not be bothered with it. And than go do something to distract yourself.

Do this every time the tinnitus is bothering you. Another thing be persistent. Don’t do this a week and then quit, keep this going until you notice that you do not need tell your brain this because the sound is filtered out most of the time.

This can take a couple of months but trust me it works!

In my next post I will explain how improve the power and effeciency of this method by combining it with EFT.

Thanks for this! I developed tinnitus this year as a side-effect​ of a neck and shoulder injury. I'm quite good at dissociation​ so this will work for me:)

Interesting, your timing that is. My initial bout went away naturally but has recurred this week big time. There are those saying that tinnitus in modern times is a condition brought on my archons.

I also have tinnitus and nothing works to reduce the sound level. But after a while you learn to live with it. Especially the first months may be hard. The realisation that you will hear that stupid sound forever. But it's only annoying when you listen to the sound and think about it. The key is to ignore it.

This is so impressive.
