SK Tools

Some of you may know that I am a bus mechanic by trade and a bit of a tool freak. Most professional mechanics need tools they can depend on and have tool vendors that visit them on a weekly basis such as Snap On, Matco, Mac or some other brand. The problem with these tools is the price. They are astronomical and before you mortgage the farm to pay for tools like these, ask yourself if you have truly examined the alternatives.

One such brand I feel is making a bit of a come back is SK. It is an old brand and chances are you have a few of these in a set of tools that was passed down to you. They used to be very popular, then the company went through some hard times from very stiff competition. The company is back and from what I have seen they are focusing on the middle of the road with their price points. This is potentially where this company could make significant inroads into the market where they have appeal to professionals and novices alike.

One product they make that I have been using for years is the Superchrome combination wrenches. While I freely admit these wrenches may lack the finesse of a Snap On wrench, they are robust and feel good in the hand. I have never broken one. They are a big step up from store brands in terms of quality and will hang in there using them day after day like I do.

I highly recommend SK tools and encourage you to consider them when you next purchase tools.
