Does Torture Work?

In the US there is the discussion as the nations select a new director for the CIA. One of the questions is does torture work?

I would say torture does work. Now, if you are a hardened leader of an operation it may or may not work, but if you are mid-level and lower you will sing.

Gangs have long used torture to extract information for opposing gang members. Think about it. When thieves break into a house and ask for the money, the reply is often, "We don’t have any." After the beatings and limb separation start the money shows up.

It is idiotic to think torture does not work.

The bigger question is, “Is it moral or ethical to use torture?”
