Exploring Australia#6 Kangaroos!

in #travel7 years ago

Hello to all my Steemit friends!
Today was such a great day because I finally saw wild kangaroos here in Australia! I’ll be honest I was desperate since I came here. It was not easy to find them in the first place and I’ve heard many stories about how unfriendly wild kangaroos sometimes can be, so we were looking for a good location to see them and interact with them safely. And it has been found!

Today, 8 am, we started off from Sydney Central station heading to Morisset - we were full of excitement and our bags were full of carrots.

After two hours trip, we arrived at the place where we were supposed to catch a bus from, but buses seem to work funny on Sundays there, so we had to walk along the road, which eventually gave us the best of luck. At the beginning, we were heading to the Morisset Park, but two(!) cars stopped, guessing somehow that we were looking for kangaroos and gave us the advice to head to the park on the territory of Morisset psychiatric hospital. Such route was making our walking time half less than we were planning, so we headed off there.

We found kangaroos there after probably an hour of wandering around the woods! It turned out that the best way is the easiest one – just follow the path and it will lead you to animals and there was no need to go in woods – oh well.
So many kangaroos were there! They are mostly used to people and some of them a very friendly. They are however a little bit spoiled by tourists like us feeding them and preferred bananas to our carrots:)
The important thing is not to give them bread as they will eat it, but won’t be able to digest that might lead to death.

It was such a great day, new great memory is on the list now and I have plenty of pictures – posting here the best ones:)
