There is a service that's trying to enable you to monetize old content, in the sense that a person can still vote on it: https://steem-bounty.com/services/forever They basically create a new comment under your post that a person automatically votes on, and then they give you your money (or a % of it?) Additional votes within the 7-day window are grouped under the same comment, I think.

You have to read in order to be read here, because that's how people discover you. I think I discovered you via steemstem (which is one of the communities you're referring to I guess). Without them I don't think I'd notice you among the thousands of posts written every day.
