Pictures From Test Run Trip
The first pic is the basic bones of my set up. The bed platform consists of two of the shelving units end-to-end instead of stacked. My neighbor helped with a small modification to shorten the legs. That afforded me more headroom while keeping a bit of space underneath for storage.
This is after I added all the gear for the trip. The big chest is my fridge/freeze combo. It's powered by a 12 volt cord that runs from the cigarette lighter plug or my 1000 watt Jackery power station. The power station, in turn, can be recharged by the same cigarette lighter plug when I'm traveling, solar panels when I'm stationary or an electric supply at a campground. In this photo, the Jackery is tucked inside a milk crate at the far end of the fridge/freezer unit.
You can also see the privacy curtain strung on a long bungee behind the front seats. It's moved up when I settle in for the night. I attach the hooks in the seat belt tracks on both sides as high as they'll go.
A few other amenities making the trip were my water supply with a USB rechargeable pump, my Luggable Loo toilet with pine pellets for odor control and a 400 watt microwave just for fun. That last item turned out to be a space hog with virtually no value. The first two items were indispensable - especially at night.
As I mentioned previously, I tried to use the limited space wisely. The storage bins were for clothes, the big white box held food supplies and cooking utensils, a USB fan for air circulation, a battery powered lantern and a (not shown) butane stove. I also had two camp chairs (also not shown) that were propped behind the bed when traveling. I just now realized I didn't get shots of my blackout panels for all the windows. They worked exceptionally well. I could have my lantern on inside and not a sliver of light was visible from the outside.
Lastly, I have to include a few of my favorite shots taken as we traveled... Tink having a blast at the Top of the Lake rest area beach:
The sandbar she brought back that ended up in her water bowl:
And the view heading south on the Mackinac Bridge:
The trip was a rousing success. I'm eagerly looking forward to the next leg the adventure!
