My city, the cleanest one - a monument to the janitor.
The city of Gomel is really an unusually clean city! Probably therefore on one of the central streets there is a monument to the janitor. Yes, yes, you did not misunderstand, it was the janitor!
Gomel, perhaps, is the only Belarusian city, where a lot of the most unusual sculptures are concentrated. One of the most unusual sculptures is the figure of the janitor woman, who was installed on Lenin Avenue (52.427017, 31.005144) in 2008. The Gomel sculptor Vladimir Ilyich Andriyanov worked on the creation of this sculpture.
Sculpture is presented in the form of a middle-aged woman, who looks in a small mirror, located in her left hand. In her right hand she holds a broom, a janitor's working tool. The woman has stopped to have a rest during cleaning and to make toilet, wishing to remain beautiful even in an image of the janitor.
This sculpture is inconspicuous and does not belong to the number of outstanding urban monuments, but is remembered for its originality and form of execution. The main idea embodied in this sculpture reminds us, that all professions in the world are worthy of respect, even if they are not too prestigious in society.
