Bes relief - Dendera Temple, Egypt

Bes is an Ancient Egyptian neter who was known as protector of mothers, children & childbirth. Also strongly associated with music. There are some lovely depictions of Bes at Philae temple also dancing, playing instruments & being merry. Bes is unusual as the iconography is so different to the other Egyptian neters. Depictions of Bes go back to the old kingdom.
