A TOWN SUSPENDED ABOVE THE SEA
Today I'm once again going back to my April trip to Italy. As some of you may remember from my previous posts, we stayed in the town of Pizzo and rented a car for our entire stay, which allowed us to explore the surrounding area at our own pace. One day we decided to visit the nearby town of TROPEA.
Not long ago I shared photos of the Santa Maria dell'Isola church on my blog. This time, however, I'd like to show you Tropea from a wider perspective. Even while planning the trip I had a feeling this place would leave a lasting impression on me. Looking at the photos, it was obvious that this wasn't just another seaside town and when I finally arrived, I wasn't disappointed.
The view was simply spectacular. On one side the turquoise waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea and on the other, towering limestone cliffs topped by a town that looks as if it had been built right on the very edge. It's hard to believe that people have lived here for centuries in a place that, from below, seems almost impossible to build on. That contrast is exactly what makes Tropea one of the most remarkable towns I've visited so far.
