青羊宫 The First Taoist Temple in Western Sichuan - Qingyang Palace

in #travel2 months ago

On the second day of arriving in Chengdu, I originally planned to go to the Sichuan Brocade Museum first. However, on the way to the Sichuan Brocade Museum, there was a stop at Qingyang Palace, and after this stop, it was Qingyang Palace. It is said that this is the first Taoist temple in western Sichuan, and its appearance looks particularly imposing. There is a natural shadow wall at the entrance, and many tourists take photos and check in as a souvenir. Since I'm here and it's so spectacular, I must take a look!

First of all, let's talk about a bronze sheep in front of the Sanqing Palace. This is a one horned bronze sheep, and the name Qingyang Palace is related to it. According to folklore, touching the body parts of a bronze sheep can prevent illness. Touching the head can cure a headache and touching the feet can cure the pain of feet. Therefore, when you come to the Bronze Sheep, you must touch it, which has attracted countless people to touch it. The Bronze Sheep has become shiny all over.

There is also the most luxurious and spectacular Bagua Pavilion in Qingyang Palace, located to the south of Sanqing Hall. The entire building has three floors and is built on a heavy platform. The bottom of the pavilion is square, the bottom of the upper pavilion is octagonal, and the pavilion god is circular, which is in line with the ancient saying of "round sky and round place.".

The Bagua Pavilion is a wooden and stone structure, without bolts or wedges, indicating the wisdom of ancient people. The pavilion is supported by 16 stone pillars, of which eight dragon pillars are the essence of the Eight Diagrams Pavilion. The eight golden dragons are lifelike and magnificent, which are the fine works of stone carving art.

Here you can also see a screen wall of blessings, wealth, and longevity, it is a symbol of longevity and happiness. It means good luck to everyone if you can see it.

In short, Qingyang Palace is the oldest and largest Taoist temple in Chengdu. It is known as the first Taoist temple in western Sichuan, and it is still worth visiting!
