I live in Hawaii and it is the same thing. We are an island chain isolated from everywhere the the coast of shipping is what spikes the prices for us. Iceland is expensive but when done in a conservative kind of way can be very cheap. The hostels had so much free food it blew my mind. That is what we mainly used. Lots of Lentils haha
