Our last day in Uyuni, Bolivia we got up early to watch the sunrise over the salt flats. The sunrise was nothing special but we were early enough to see the moon setting behind some hills. A couple minutes after this picture the moon was completely gone.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Australian Monday week #38 - winner announcement!

@mibreit-photo Australian Monday entry:

Already Monday again :-) Today I show you a photo from my first trip to New Zealand back in 2014. The weather on the North Island wasn't very good and we had to cancle many of our plans. But down in the south-east at Castlepoint a spell of sunny weather was forecast. So we drove down there and it was a great decision. The Castlepoint Lighthouse with Castlerock in the distance is such a beautiful subject to photograph. And asside from that there's also a beautiful beach and some steep cliffs to explore.

@amyalfatasya Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans entry:

Enjoy the beauty of the beach and the sunset in the "puloet" (Aceh). The beach is located at the end of "Great Aceh" and travels about 50 kilometers from the city "Banda Aceh" The sea is directly opposite the strait of the Indies. In addition to offering beauty, the waves on this beach is quite large and tall. This beach is rarely visited because of the ferocity of the waves.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - European Thursday week #38 - winner announcement!

@davedavis91 European Thursday entry:

There is Switzerland which is, I have to admit, really pretty. But than there is the Saxon Switzerland, which is even better ;) Nah, just kidding. It is fairly close though, thus I spent a lot of time in this pretty little area in the east of Germany. This shot was taken about 1h/ 90minutes before Sunrise. Heavy rain the night before provided the foundation for this super cool foggy scenery. An ocean of clouds with only the peaks penetrating the surface. Shot with my Nikon D5300 (Sigma 8-16mm).

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - North American Friday week #38 - winner announcement!

@jman27 North American Friday entry:

Zabriskie Point in Death Valley National Park in California just before sunrise. This is probably the most popular viewpoint in the park and there were at least 30 or 40 people already there when I arrived. Probably because it was too hot to sleep.

Standing at the peak of 1,379 meters in Nahuelbuta National Park in central Chile, I was stunned by this breathtaking view at sunset. The Monkey Puzzle trees are sacred to the Mapuche native American tribes. They date back up to 2,000 years, and can grow up to 40 meters high. To the west it's the immense Pacific Ocean, and to the east an impressive chain of Andean volcanoes.

Fin del Mundo Waterfall, Colombia

This waterfall is part of the Fin del Mundo (English: End of the world) cascades in Southern Colombia. I was happy to have crossed the river with my camera and ND-filter to get this long exposure!

I hope there's no snakes in there that waterfall looks like a very good place to swim and have some fun with friends.

No snakes, just a huge drop a few metres away 😅

Glad to know the camera survived the crossing:)...

Sunset over the Valley of the Moon near San Pedro de Atacama in Chile. The area around San Pedro is barren desert but still manages to have striking colors, especially at sunset. The white in the foreground is salt.

Once again an amazing image! Thank you so much for that.

This is the imposing Sierra Nevada de Merida. Last sections of the Andes mountain range, located in Venezuela. This photograph represents the highest areas of Venezuela, with more than 4,500 meters above sea level. They are rocky mountains of tectonic origin, therefore they present metamorphic rocks, such as schist and gneiss. This photo was taken from the last station of the Merida cableway, Venezuela.

Cordillera Sierra Nevada (1).JPG

That sure is pretty high and very impressive indeed.

The center of the world, Located in Ecuador. This photo was taken on a family trip 2014 and is about a monument that represents the place where an imaginary line passes that means the center of our planet, where the northern and southern hemispheres are divided. This was used by locals to make everything a tourist destination for all those who travel to this beautiful country.

What an interesting entry and fascinating monument. Thank you for sharing with all of us. Have a great day. Tomas

Los Roques - Venezuela

Definitely what I like most about Los Roques are the beautiful white sand beaches with clear blue waters and turquoise that are the most charming combination of this archipelago. This image was taken from a catamaran.
