Koblenz (German: Koblenz) is a German city with 106,087 inhabitants. Located in the northern part of the Federal State of Rhineland-Palatinate in the west of the country. It is the third largest city in the state of Athenes and Ludwigshafen. Koblenz is an independent urban district (Kreisfreie Stadt) and is not part of the Landkreis Mayen-Koblenz, although it is its administrative capital.

Koblenz is one of the oldest German cities. In 1992, it celebrated its 2,000th anniversary. Its ancient Latin name, Confluentes, is derived from its geographical location, the "junction of the two rivers": when Coplantis meets the Rhine and Moselle rivers.

In 2002, UNESCO considered some parts of the city as part of the World Heritage Site because of its composition in the Middle Rhine Valley. It has been followed by the Citadel since 2005, which is part of the Roman border fortifications (Limes germanico-retico).
