"A Change Of Seasons" On The Top of the World Highway In Alaska

The top of the World Highway is a short highway. When getting off the boat in Dawson, it is a 79 mile trip through the Yukon and into Alaska to connect with Highway 79. Not a long highway, but it have views beyond amazing.  Photographers will be delighted at all spectacular scenes that begin to appear just after the first hard frost. Usually this happens around mid to late August.  After that event, the hills and trees begin to change colors. The colors are so deep, they are almost unbelievable. The seasons have begun to change.

As the trees begin to darken up with bright oranges and reds, there are other changes that begin to take place.  The  beautiful rivers that have provided fresh fish all season, are also changing. The ice now begins to form. As time goes on, the river will become iced over for winter and a new way to fish opens up. Have you ever tried ice fishing?

Ice Fishing Is Amazing During The Frozen Season Of Winter In Alaska

If you plan on spending the night in the towns of Chicken or Tok, you will have time to check out Dawson, often called the "City Of Gold." Both places are a short drive. Tok is the first major village you will come to.

Have you heard of Chicken, Alaska?

Chicken, Alaska is perhaps one of the most interesting places in Alaska. That is, if you enjoy nature and have the ability to entertain yourself.  The year around population is only 20 people but you will find gift shops, a bar, cafe, and a liquor store. All this plus the Chicken Creek RV Park.

Tok Is A Winter Wonderland Once The Next Season Kicks In

So take a drive on The Top Of The World Highway In Alaska. Enjoy the changing of the seasons, and the peace that only nature can offer. Don't forget your passport and be sure to bring your camera. It is a photographers playground, no matter the season.
