Wow!! What a view!! A clear sky let us see the Grand Canyon at its best!

During our roadtrip through the west of the United States we have seen many beautiful National Parks, buzzing cities and remote areas in the desert. Although the Grand Canyon is not the most beautiful place we have seen, it surely is a beauty and keeps us amazed. Knowing that this enormous Grand Canyon is shaped over millions of years makes us feel small and void.

Interesting fact: the Colorado river, which you can see in the photo, is a uniquely difficult habitat for fish. Because of the heavy silt, floods and high temperature differences there are only 8 fish species native to the Grand Canyon, six of them are only living in the Colorado river and nowhere else on the planet.

We started the morning with a good breakfast at our cabin in Flagstaff. We chose to stay in Flagstaff so we could enter the south Rim of the Canyon nice and early.

When we arrived at the Grand Canyon we drove to the visitor center where we received much information of all the viewingpoints and the hiking trails. As the Grand Canyon is a massive tourist trap there aren't many viewingpoints where you can enjoy the view in peace, but when you go hiking you can enjoy some remote places if you're lucky.

We decided to do a hike along the South Kaibab Trail towards the Ooh Aah point. No, that is not a joke. There is actually a Ooh Aah point. And believe us, this Ooh Aah point is far! To us it was more a "Ooh Aah, I can't go any further point".

This trail is a beautiful hike and maybe because this is not the easiest trail it isn't so crowded. We were advised to take a couple of bottles of water and some food with us because of hydration and the length of the trail. And we surely needed it. On the map it doesn't look pretty far, but because of the height differences and the heat it drowns your energy level.

I know, wrong cap for this day! But I was happy to have it, because the sun was roasting us.

After a long day and saying goodbye to this beautiful view it was time for some good food.

After the Grand Canyon it was time for historic Route 66 and Joshua Tree National Park. More about these great places in our upcoming stories. Some previews down below as a teaser.

Thank you for following us and letting us show you the world through our eyes.

Have a nice day and remember.. GoCoconuts 😉

Glad that we may be your motivator @wilkinshui and thank you for your comment. I hope some of the airlines will be of good will to you :) Which team do you support?

I am supporting the phoenix suns, i am sure you will feel sorry for me but i am waiting them to get their mojo back XD

Well we're dutch and we didn't made it to the european championships of last year, so can relate 😉

素敵な風景ですね!

Hi @soi-green I am sure your comment must be the most amazing ever, but I don't understand what your saying 😉

We were at the grand canyon around 7 years ago. What an incredible place. We took the helicopter tour over the canyon but never did the mule ride down. I was concerned I'd get a suicidal mule. Enjoy and thanks for posting.

Ow wow! That helicopter must have been amazing. We just didn't had the time :( Next time then!
Haha, I can relate to the suicidal mule. Also a no go for us. And besides, at some point we had to train all these burgers off so this was a good start.

Breathtaking sights!

If not the sight, then most definitely the walk back up that will take your breath away ;)

Looks like a lot of fun.

beautiful post <3 love it :)

Ooh Aah, that looks amazing!

An amazing view.

It sure is @jeff001
Have you ever been there?

No one of many places I want to visit.

That's quite a view.
