I was on the Gold Coast not long ago and I seem to remember there was one building on the beach that was considerably taller than the rest of them. The shadow of said building would extend well out into the ocean. It was pretty ominous actually.
I was there at the time of year when it was still a bit cold in the evenings so I didn't get in the water but it really was a lovely beach. Fantastic footpaths all along the beachfront also.
Shite service in the restaurants :P
The building is probably Q1 and yea, it’s still a bit cold at night but feels amazing for Winter. Also if I’m being honest Australian restaurant service in general tends to be a bit iffy.

haha about the restaurant service. I think this has a lot to do with the lack of tipping culture. We were at one fancy place and there was this particular waiter was just amazing and he acted surprised when i palmed him a 20 (which isn't even a great tip.)
Yea, tipping isn’t a thing here. Sometimes they’ll even refuse to take tips. Also service wise it’s seen as impolite to give you the check or bug you too much so sometimes the service isn’t bad but, as an American, it feels like I’m being ignored
