Shallow Thoughts

Whenever I travel, I ALWAYS print out a paper boarding pass. I've been a developer on and off for my entire career and usually adopt new technology fairly quickly, but I cannot be convinced to pull up my boarding pass on a phone and scan it. The phone could crash. The app could crash. The scanner could malfunction. There are so many variables at play (literally and figuratively). This morning the scanner crashed, and the backup for paper boarding passes was "tear off the stub" whereas the backup for the phones was "I'll read it off your phone so I can enter it into the computer and verify your name and seat". Paper wins. Maybe someday I'll switch over, but we're not there yet.

Deep Thoughts

I'm not terribly fond of living in Texas, my heart is still in Hawaii. There's a reason I'm here, which I'll get into someday in a long form post. However, I do get some pleasant surprises now and then, and this sunset is one of them:

I'm quite similar that way. Sometimes the old-fashioned way of keeping the important stuff on paper just feels more secure. The digital copy can always be used as backup. But I've loosened up quite a bit on this. Sometimes you just gotta take a leap of faith that nothing will go wrong. For that matter, even taking hard copies can backfire, like you can lose it. Sometimes, we just gotta surrender haha. Not easy, but we really should.

Yeah, there's only so much we can do to prepare for disaster. When people start expecting technology to work reliably, they stop calling it "technology" - it has become a "utility". There was a time when electricity and running water were "technology" ;-P

This is exactly what I do with my Bitcoin's haha. Paper wallets are the best. It's always better to be old school. Technology was supposed to help us, and not own us.

Agreed, old school is the best! Except when I'm in line behind someone at the grocery store who is paying with cash. Paper money is the worst ;-P

I agree haha! Imagine going even more old school: Barter.

The picture here has a nice concept.

I have to ask. . . is that sarcasm?

Your travel stats is rather classical than exceptional.
