My day out in Paradise drifting along the famous Hawkesbury River
Hawkesbury River
I would like to let the Steemit community know about a lovely place slightly north of Sydney Australia called the Hawkesbury River.
Firstly we put the boat in the water and decided to go to a few deserted places not many people know about as they are only accessible by boat .
First stop was Refuge Beach where there is a magnificent fresh water waterfall that cascades down to the beach. It looks like a movie set on a paradise island.
Clean fresh water to drink or have a high pressure shower.
Very invigorating.
You can actually walk behind the waterfall and there is a trail leading to the very top where there is natural rock pools you can swim in.
It would have been a popular place for the Aboriginal people before white settlement because of the fresh water and plentiful food supply of native animals and fish.
At the very top you can see where the Aboriginal tribes used to sharpen their tools on the wet rocks.
Refuge beach is usually very quiet as you can only access it by boat unless you are a dedicated bushwalker.
It does make a great place for a romantic picnic.
The next stop we decided to go and do a spot of evening fishing under the Hawkesbury railway bridge.
We didn't catch much however the sunset was to die for.
So next time there's any STEEMIANS plan a trip to Sydney Australia , give me a shout and we can explore some of the lessor know areas around Sydney.
So if you like the look of the Hawkesbury , give me an upvote and reesteem.
And let me know when your coming down under and Ill throw another shrimp on the barbie.
Those are awesome pictures!
Gee thanks mate.
Theres so many areas to explore down the river.
Very good post :) and I'd like to see and take pictures of this region :)
Thanks , It is really beautiful and pristine.
Down the river there so much to explore , where the old steamboats used to take the supplies up river and the old deserted mental hospital. Great fishing and its easy to go from beach to beach swimming. Theres some old style marinas you can tie up your boat and get a feed and coffee. Theres even a ferry service and you can get off at a nice popular swimming hole like the Basin.
Cheers
Thank you!! I'll leave that information mind and put it on the destination in my list :)
Very picturesque. You really can't go wrong if your destination has a waterfall!
Haha yes you are right.
Hey marky. Welcome aboard, mate. Use the #teamaustralia tag (you can still edit this post to include it).
We're taking over steemit :)
