What to do when you miss your flight?

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Among all my travels, this has been the most challenging so far.

My flight to Manila got cancelled. Twice.

I got stranded for two days, and needed to find some place to stay.

And (for the first time).. I missed my return flight to Tacloban.

#travelpamore 😅

This is probably of one the scenarios you don’t want to tell your mom, because definitely hakot award bes 😂

Now, I’m confused which one hurts more.. ang maiwanan ng jowa o ang maiwanan ng plane?

Ang maiwan ng plane masakit na nga sa puso.. masakit pa sa bulsa 😭😂

So to answer the big question.. “What to do when you miss your flight?”

May mga bagay talaga akala mo dka iiwan, pero iiwanan ka pala. Hahaha.

One of the perks, and my favorite reason why I travel alone is you get to set your own pace. But, tonight was an exception. When something comes up, you’re alone, and no one’s gonna fix it but you.. and you only.

You gotta pull yourself together. Relax. Think. And tell yourself, “You can do it”.

I checked online for available flights, good thing they still have seats which I can afford. One of the things I’m #grateful for today.

I waited for my priority number to be called.

And few minutes, I got a ticket for next day’s flight going to Tacloban.

I decided to stay at the airport (so I won’t miss my flight.. again.)

#grateful for charging stations. 🤗

Manulife is right. “Every journey has a story”. And I’ll make the most of every moment of this journey. Every challenge is an adventure. I’d like to think that another XP has been added to me for surpassing and handling a tough situation.

And that I realized, that no toxicities can stop me. I will travel the world, and I will face every challenges that comes with it.

I’m #grateful for travels, it taught me to be independent, it showed me how courageous I am, and built my confidence.

I’m #grateful that I’m writing this on the plane right now while bound to Tacloban. Finally, I’m going home filled with funny stories and lessons learned. Not to be on time, but to be early. Haha. I’m must have used up my ninja powers, it didn’t worked this time. 😅

It has been a superb 2017. Another year full of adventures and great moments that I will be #grateful for every single day.

Everything seems to be going too fast, I wish it can slow down a bit. Another year is ending and 2018’s gonna be starting few days from now.

And I can’t wait to fill it again with adventures and stories. I’m excited to meet new people on the road and know their stories as well. I’m happy to meet new souls, who went through different things and who has a different perspective about life and the world.

I’m #grateful for conversation. I treasure them so much.

I’m #grateful for meeting Ate Karen who is a dialysis patient. I know t must have been hard to be diagnosed with kidney failure at a young age. But she is such a brave soul. My conversation with her made me realized that some people are only living for today while others plan for their future. As for dialysis patients like them who only got few years to live, they only have today. They don’t plan for the future. They treasure every moment. They are #grateful for the little things.

For people like us who doesn’t have to go through dialysis thrice a week. We neglect to appreciate the things our body does. We tend to forget to be #grateful that our kidneys are still functioning well. That we are eating without having to worry for the imbalances we might get after eating. That we can normally walk. We can effortlessly breathe.

Sometimes, the world gets too be too much, we forget the thing that really matters.

I am guilty of this as well.

I believe everything happens for a reason, and that conversation was meant to happen to make me realize some things.

I was meant to be stranded with those amazing people for me to remember that I am missing a lot right now because I’m too busy with worldly things.

To end this post, here’s a photo I took with DJ and KC before I head to the airport. They were one of my dormmates. I was really scared of the typhoon, but these kids remind me to loosen up and not to worry. They were constantly asking me if I was scared, and I said yes. And they would proudly tell me “I’m not scared Ate”.

I love kids so much. Their innocence is precious.

This post is for today’s @paradise-found #gratefulvibes challenge. I am #grateful because I don’t see any reason why we shouldn’t be.

Enjoy your day guys! 🤗💚
