Outside Looking In

One of the difficult aspects of traveling around in third-world countries is dealing with poverty. It's everywhere. It affects everyone in some manner.

During my visits to Bohol, Philippines, I've taken it upon myself to try to help a few of the less fortunate. I can't help everyone - that's simply unrealistic; but I can help a handful or two.

Having been a school teacher, I'm touched deeply when I see a child who really wants to be in school, but is unable because he or she is lacking a pencil and paper. There's nothing worse than seeing a child who has the desire to be successful, but is on the outside, looking in.
