KANCHIPURAM is a temple city in India has more than 300 temples in and around. The most famous temple is situation at the center of city which is near to one another.

Kailasanathar temple, the oldest temple in the town built by rajasimha a pallava king at 8th century. It is dedicated to lord shiva. King rajaraja cholas visit to kailasanathar inspired him to build the big temple at thanjavur.!

Ekambaranathar Temple complex covers 25 acres, and is one of the largest in India. the temple has 1000 pillars, 63 nayanmars around the first precinct. The sthala-virutcham or temple tree is believed to be a 3,500-year-old mango tree whose branches are said to yield four different types of mangoes from its four branches.

Varadharaja Perumal Temple dedicated to lord vishnu there is silver and golden lizards in the temple, it is believed that who prayed lord varadha and touches the two lizard on their way out will be relieved from all chronic diseases.

Kamatchi amman temple is an ancient hindu Temple dedicated to kamatchi, one of the forms of goddess. Kamakshi, is seated in a majestic padmasana, an yogic posture signifying peace and prosperity, instead of the traditional standing pose. Temple has a speciality golden kopuram. Adi shankaracharya, the famous 8th century CE scholar and saint, re-established the Sri Chakra in this Kamakshi Devi temple in the trough-like structure in that shrine. sankara mutt started a monastery 2500 year back still as one famous place. It is a 12th Century temple in the heart of the town kanchipuram. “Ka” means Goddess Saraswati (God of Education), “Ma” means Goddess Lakshmi (God of Wealth), “Akshi” means Eye. Apart from that kanchipuram has many historical temple like ulagalanda perumal which has 35 feet tall idol of lord vishnu, vaikundanatha perumal in sleeping posture, pandava doota perumal 25 feet tall at sitting posture pachaivanna and pavalavanna a two temples together are consider as a single temple.

Lord Chitragupta temple. Chitragupta is considered the chief accountant and the minister of Lord Yama, or the God of Death. There is no other separate shrine or temple that has been built devoted to Chitragupta, other than the Chitragupta temple in Kancheepuram. Chitragupta keeps record of all the good and evil deeds of humans and accordingly decides to send them to heaven or hell.

Kanchi kudil represents the old living style and life of the people of the city with a view to attract tourists. Kudil means house.
