The first stop on our Creole Nature Trail adventure was the Lacassine Pool in the Lacassine National Wildlife Refuge.

It is a 16,000 acre freshwater marsh. The number and types of birds is overwhelming.

Meeka wanted to go in the water so badly we had to cut our visit short. I think she wanted to find an alligator.
