Another Euro-trip photo recap...

We setup base for 3 nights in Salerno, between Rome and Florence.

The first night: our first anniversary dinner at Dubl restaurant on the beachfront.

We hadn't had anything special planned, though it turned out to be amazing.

The following day: a boat cruise up the Amalfi Coast all the way to Positano and back. Stunning.

Here, follows the venture...

Beautiful Positano. Quite busy with tourists during the summer, but quite breathtaking - especially from the water.

(regretting not getting some pics of the HUGE yachts pulling up to Positano - some 5-deckers owned by Russian oil tycoons, were pretty spectacular - though pics probably wouldn't have done justice from those angles. Nonetheless, you can see why they parked where they did)

Yours truly chillin' like a villian.

heading out, came across the smoke of some forest fires setting the background...

20170822_103441.jpg

and thickening up, from another angle. kinda beautiful, in a weird way.

20170822_211342.jpg

amazing fortress posts lining the coast, from back in the days when the Italians were defending against invaders.

20170822_210701.jpg

the deep blue color of the water... OMG.

20170822_200925.jpg

HUGE cave sitting overtop huge cliffside fortress... can't get much cooler than that.

20170822_202616.jpg

absolutely lovely, charming townsides lining the coast.

20170822_202941.jpg

on the ground in the town/city of Amalfi...

not sure if this was merely a joke, or that's what the Italians use. makes for good smiles either way, at the least.

20170828_234007.jpg

the color of the water again… pics could not do justice. took my breath away. (not literally. but DID make quite the impact.)

20170822_135530.jpg

more magical cliffside buildings. too cool.

20170822_164651.jpg

this pic couldn’t quite capture it, but on the way back, there was this effect of the sun getting filtered through the forest fire smoke and creating golden sparkles on the water… magical.

20170822_205557.jpg

dopeness.

20170822_202805.jpg

we entered this grotto for a few minutes, and were instructed to make a wish. way awesome in there. will require a year or so to see if the wish comes true…

20170822_203852.jpg

at the marina in Salerno.

20170822_203241.jpg

and backtracking to the anniversary dinner. that Feudi di San Gregorio wine from grapes grown in volcanic soil… OMG. obsessed.

All-in-all, a great stopover. Would love to go back - though with faster, more expensive travel routes, and higher-class accommodation in/around Positano or on the island of Capri. And either slightly before or after summer to avoid the crowds.

Italy, you didn't disappoint here... :-)

Sort:

Those azure waters really look magnificent from these photos. Did you go for a swim or was it too cold?

The rugged landscape and those enchanting castles, plus all the interesting architecture, truly make this place magical. You just can't see such variety in the U.S. - only Europe can offer this.

stopped for 3 swims. was a little chilly, though not too bad.

indeed. there's a richness of art, architecture, and culture on the continent that can't be matched...

I would love to take a dip in those waters. LOL at the 'Viagra' red peppers. I hope Pfizer doesn't mind.

Killer photos Rok! CHILLIN LIKE A VILLAIN, yes! haha

An amazing part of the world...one of the most beautiful places I can think of to visit. The history and culture is amazing.

Thank you for sharing your trip with us.

Are you threatening me!? My bungole will not wait!

Fantastic travel photos, you've inspired me, I must go there some day. "HUGE cave sitting overtop huge cliffside fortress... can't get much cooler than that." You're right, that is very cool.

yeah. Italy as a whole didn't seem as exciting as I thought it'd be, but the Amalfi Coast is definitely worth checking out at least one...

Yes, like @gringalicious said, that huge cave was so captivating!!! A setting of another Game of Thrones scene if ever they cross to Italy someday.

Your beautiful photos from Amalfi coast are so cool! 👍🏽 I think you're right @rok-sivante, it's better to enjoy it from the sea rather than staying in Positano having had to go down and walk up those stairs back everyday.

What a beautiful and breathtaking scene! It must be a memorable anniversary trip!!❤️❤️❤️

Thanks for sharing your journey. That part of the world is on my short list (a short list which is still fairly long).

Great travel my friend and always be happy

You look like some movie artist or a singer but I couldn't figure out who :D. For the info the chair and table in the riverish thing is for dinner purposes. There are some in Turkey too.

ha ha ha.

I've gotten Eminem, Moby (when I used to wear glasses years ago), the guy from Linkin' Park... us bald white guys look all the same. painted on a backdrop like that, it adds the extra allure. :-)

I resemble that remark. LOL

Ok I found it now it is Bedük some Turkish dj but apparently it prooves your bald guys look a like theory lol.

Wow. Positano is one of my favorite places in Italy! The entire town smelled like lemons and salt! Great photos!!

OMG the lemons... :-p

Really cool place between sightseeing and food, seems like you had a blast! Cool pics
