Shannon River Kayak, Source to Sea
Tandem Kayaking the 360km Shannon River in Ireland from its source to sea.
I'm looking forward to traveling from source to sea the longest river in Ireland by tandem kayak with my good mate Matt McNelley. Matt's currently hiking trails in Canada and travelling the world from his home in Sydney, Australia. We've been speaking about doing an adventure together for a few years and like many things in life timing is key and this time we've found a great excuse to paddle a river together.

So to the adventure and what a fun kayak this will be. Starting at the source high up in the Cuilcagh Mountains in County Caven, Ireland we'll hike from Shannon pot to Lough Allen where we'll meet Barry who runs Sligo Kayak Tours. From here the three of us will paddle for a day together through the lake before Barry bids us farewell as we push on over the next 10 days in search of adventure and eventually Limerick where the Shannon Estuary begins and the river ends. Passing through many lakes, locks, bridges and towns on route we hope to enjoy all that this river has to offer. Camping on the riverbanks by night and paddling by day we're both looking forward to the challenges and beauty of the mighty Shannon.
I'll be sharing by blog for you to follow along the ups and downs.
