Menorca - Where I grew up !!!

I say I grew up here ... but only as holidays but I have been lucky enough to have been 17 times , I was 5 when I first went and now I’m 30! Not that I’ve been for a couple of years but I will be going and can’t wait to share it with @tomatom ;)!! Not that he knows it yet ;)

It’s a quite a small island but I’ve been to most of it !!

But let me take you through some of my days on that beach ... you can’t say it’s not like paradise... look at that Sea! I just love it there.

Maó-Mahón,sometimes written in English as Mahon (Catalan: Maó [məˈo], Spanish: Mahón [maˈon]) is a municipality, the capital city of the island of Menorca, and seat of the Island Council of Menorca. The city is located on the eastern coast of the island, which is part of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands, Spain. Maó-Mahón has one of the longest natural harbours in the world: 5 km (3.1 mi) long and up to 900 metres (2,953 feet) wide. The water is deep but it remains mostly clear due to it being slightly enclosed. It is also said to be the birthplace of mayonnaise (salsa mahonesa in Spanish).

The little town we usually stay in is called Cala Galdana and the hotel is called Sol Gavilanes

As soon as I get to the hotel I run out to the terrace and breath in the air and look out at the beautiful crystal clear blue sea !! One year it wasn’t so blue ! They had a massive storm and it was terracotta brown from the rocks but it cleared after a few days and was back to a beautiful bay again

My day to day holidaying here is chilling on the beach after breakfast reading my book dipping my toes in the sea when i get too hot !! Having fresh bread cheese crisps and fruit for lunch then maybe getting a pedelo out 1 afternoon, go to the cafe on the rock another day going up to the pool ! In the early days we even did mini club !! And ended up performing a dance on stage! We had a lot of fun years.

You can also walk to the next bay which is a stunning walk and lots of steps on the way back !!

Then If you carry on round to the next bay you get a nudist beach! If that’s your kind of thing!!!

On the walk back to Cala galdana bay you can go out to view points and just see the deep blue sea it’s magical ! I love this walk I make sure I do it every time even the mass of steps at the end and at the start of heading back!!! it’s not sign posted but you’ll figure it out ! Lots of people walk it !!! You’ll see the start which is on the bridge that goes over to the cafe on the rocks !

Let me show you! I love it here ! Mainly for the view but we usually treat ourselves to a pizza Over here or a lunch time beer or afternoon coffee lol after our walk along the sand !

This is in the day and evening of course :) and the pictures of the rock is awesome I love it in there ! If the seas rough watch out !!! You’ll get wet !!!!

Sunrises here are amazing :) when I’m on it with my fitness!!! I run before breakfast ...

And breakfast !!! To get you fuelled up for a day on the beach !!!

As a family( we’ve had 12 of us there at one point!) we always have a evening stroll after dinner :) sunsets are as amazing as sunrises :)

Then after our walk over to the shops !! Been the same shops forever but me and my sister have to look in every single one!! And then the supermarket once a day for lunch!!
We go to the bar under the hotel for a drink!! The owner knows what we have! Or did ! It’s been a few years !! Also all the hotel staff have seen us grow up :) hope to get back there soon!

They is also a few restaurants over near the shops too! Incase you fancy a meal out instead of having food at the hotel but the food in divine all freshly cooked fish and meat and pasta dishes ! There is an inside restaurant and outside on the terrace :)

So the capital is Mahon which is lovely but where I love is Cuitadella is the other main town on Menorca .. you can get a bus from Cala Galdana or hire a car :)!

It’s so beautiful especially on a Sunday evening when all the locals go to church , all the little families come out in the traditional dresses for Menorca !!

I love down in the harbour the most .. you go down a big set of steps il show you, lots of little shops in the caves and sooo many restaurants along the front so you can sit and watch all the big boats !

Back on the beach ...

Me and mum as I said before go on a pedalo !! Always fun!! When we took my gran and grandad my grandad loved it :) and my Auntie and Uncle :) ( we’ve taken lots of family !)

It’s changed so much since when we first started going! And it’s extremely expensive!! But it is soooooo worth it ! Maybe a special occasion @tomatom ;)! A proposal or honeymoon 😝 !!! Jokes ! Il save up and take us :)

Also on the island there is a place called Fornells if we have a car we go there :) it’s another harbour town really cute :) full of seafood restaurants!

Think that’s the main resorts! My childhood was spent with lots of sandy toes and salty kisses ( not holiday flings! Just from my parents as a kid!)

Holds amazing memories and just the perfect paradise you need to escape the world

I could go on my own and I’ve tried! But people keep wanting to come with me and why wouldn’t you !!

We share so many happy memories here

We are extremely lucky to have my parents
