Dogtown Dusk

The long sands that merge Santa Monica and Venice beach in California create a varied prism of humanity and nature in all it's glory.

A friendly young man pointed out there were dolphins in the water; they were to far for a photo but fun to see. I was with my friends Randy and Diana, and we had a lot of fun talking, goofing around and discussing creative projects. Walking up and down the beach; with the huge waves rolling into brave children on boogie boards; l felt just a little more alive again.

Not sure what the helicopters were doing; there did to be some strange cloud or smoke formations in the sky beyond the Santa Monica Mountains.

We sat and watched the sun go down until our stomachs began to grumble.

Main street in Venice was lively and we found a restaurant nearby; "The Anchor," with an attractive atmosphere.

The calamari was very well cooked according to my friends; I do not care for calamari in general but I appreciated the subtle tang of the the sauce. The brussel sprouts were next level; mixed with bacon and apples and fried to an almost perfect crispness. The lobster mac and cheese was highly disappointing given the price; It was well made; but a tiny serving with very little lobster. The fish and chips however, was a huge portion as well as being perfectly cooked and delicious. The service was friendly despite being busy; but the food came out fast.

After we ate we walked around the Rose Avenue area.

Hmmm..., I might want to see this movie; looks intriguing.
