The Birding Blog - #2 - Little Ringed Plover
Roaming around a lake is one of my favourite spots for birdwatching. The reason for that is simple, the diversity of birds that you come across at a lake is amazing. You see the water birds, you see the forest birds around it and you see the scrubland birds nearby as well.
The second picture i am posting of is a bird called 'Little Ringed Plover'. You don't need to put a ring on it.
Its easily recognisable because of its yellow ring around the eye and a black throat ring over a white neck and belly. There are 3 subspecies of this bird that are found in different parts of the world. One of them in the indian subcontinent, second one around russia ,japan and china and the third one from phillipines. A fairly common specie, but really cute ones to observe nonetheless.
Mostly seen around fresh water bodies feeding off on insects and worms, it is a joy to watch this guy go around doing his business sometimes coming really close to you.

Beautiful Bird
indeed !
Great photo. Bird photography is a secondary affliction for me, primarily just a birder.
that has been the case for me always as well. I picked up photography just to keep record shots of the bird i see !
