A backpackers paradise you won't believe exists in China!

Last year I was in China for a work trip and I fortunately managed to score few extra days for travel. I looked up on internet for places I could visit and came across Yangshuo. People were saying a lot of good things about it, that it was beautiful, cheap, laid back and paradise for backpackers. Having being in Guangzhuo multiple times, I found it hard to believe that there could be such a place in middle of the country. So I decided to check it out and I was surprised in a big way. Have a look at it yourselves:

• That's a cute mascot for a coconut water drink.

• The main street, where all the buzz was.

• Beautiful lake at the end of the street.

• When they said the hostel has great rooftop views they weren't kidding.

• Cruising the river on a bamboo raft.

• Get a portrait on a t-shirt for 20 yuan (strange choice for display portraits by this guy :P)

Accommodation: An ensuite double room in the hostel costed U$15 per night.

Food: Restaurants: Almost all major cuisines available, per meal at approx $6-8.
           Streed food: Options starting from U$1, but not much if you're vegetarian. 

Getting there: Guilin is the closest airport with flights from major Chinese cities, it is about 2hrs by bus.
