Tower of London: The Tower of London is one of the most visited attractions in London. Located on the north bank of the River Thames in central London, this fortress has been standing for over 1,000 years. William the Conqueror built it in 1066 as part of his Norman conquest and it was used for a variety of purposes including a treasury, a prison and even an armoury. It is now a museum open to the public and remains one of London's most famous landmarks. The Crown Jewels are kept here and are on display for visitors to see.
