#2 Where to go for a Christmas market?
Germany is known throughout the world for its Christmas markets. One of the oldest and most famous Christmas markets in Germany is the Striezelmarkt in Dresden - its origins date back to 1434.
Throughout December, you can feel here the unique atmosphere of upcoming Christmas. Beautiful lighting, the aroma of a mulled wine and different Christmas pastries, and thousands of ideas for gifts.
From the main train station, you can walk along the Prager Straße at the end of which the Striezelmarkt begins. You can feel the aroma of mulled wine everywhere. I definitely recommend Glühwein mit Apfel und Zimt - a mulled wine with apple and cinnamon.
And what about Christmas food? Roasted almonds, roasted nuts, Stollen (a Christmas strudel), bananas in chocolate coating and many, many more.
There are also attractions for children: a gingerbread house, a fairy tale house, a little house made of prunes, a Christmas bakery, a puppet theater and a small cinema.
After a stroll through the main Christmas markets, it's worth visiting Augustus Brücke to see the beautiful, evening panorama of Dresden.
