My One Day Escapade to Mindoro - Mingming the Explorer!

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Hello there friends! How have you all been? Hoping you are all doing great. I have been away for a while and wasn't able to post here for a week. It's because I went on a trip to Baco, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines last weekend and just when I got back to Batangas, Monday morning when I was going back to Manila for work, I got sick. I have had ulcer for 3 years now and had an attack that morning. Awful, I know. But I wanted to share with you guys my quick trip to Mindoro.

BATANGAS PORT

We left Batangas Port at around 6pm Friday last week. It was a very tight schedule as I dropped off from work, went on a 3-4hr ride from Manila to Batangas, dropped by at my house quickly then left for the Port while my boyfriend was waiting for me. The reason why I was leaving for Mindoro is I attended the wedding of my bf's high school friend. I have been with them before and I know most of my bf's high school friends so I'm not a stranger to them. They're a bunch of nice people and easy to get along that's why I really tried to make it to the celebration.

Tried to capture the view of leaving Batangas City from a moving vessel but too lazy to stand up and get a proper shot. So instead, I got a blurred with another vessel blocking the view. Fantastic. Note the sarcasm there LOL

After a few minutes and the waves are getting bigger, making the vessel go in high up and deep down motions. Making my head feel so heavy and making my stomach hurl. This is another one of my weaknesses.

Guess who's that pokemon?

Someone's feeling a little dizzy here...

Yep, that's me. Forced a smile hoping I'd look a little more decent while in the midst of my misery on that boat. Praying to all the Gods to help save me and make the trip as fast as it can be. How I hate the feeling.. I keep telling myself I will get use to it, but I never do. How do I live with that? Guess I just have to live that. LOL

After a while long ride on the vessel (honestly it was just hardly an hour and a half) we then rode for another 45 minutes to my bf's home. So it is expected that once we got there, we'll just settle in and then take a good rest. Come morning the next day, everything was in a rush. I had to get ready and you know when I get ready for something like that. Usually, it takes 2-3 hours. Girls, I know. Plus the irritating fact that I had no charger with me, and my bf forgot to bring his charger to. What in the world! We had to share on one charger (his mom's) for 4 devices. Can you imagine the hassle?

We weren't able to catch up with the wedding (I swear that wasn't my 3-hour-getting-ready routine's fault) so we just went to the reception. We were too early for that and had to wait. I haven't had any meal that day and it was already lunch time when we got there. And my stomach was already rumbling! After waiting for half an hour or so, the bride and the groom arrived. Still, we can't start the eating ceremony yet because yeah, Filipino traditions upon the arrival of the newly weds.

Cutting the long waiting game short, I was able to eat at almost 2pm, I think. And had already lost my appetite so only ate a little. (I had to mention this because this one of the reasons I had a sudden ulcer attack)To be honest, the celebration wasn't much of a scene. Because very few people attended -- some relatives and friends. Fast forward later that day, my bf and his friends decided to bring the small party at home.

And there we are, mind you i don't drink but i stayed with them eating their food LOL. I just listened to their stories, their high school memories and I kinda felt envious because at that moment I missed my high school days and having that chit chat with some good old friends. That kind of feeling is irreplaceable and very very nostalgic. I think high school life is one of the best parts of your life, don't you agree?

Just before the night ends, something came up and that made me feel very agitated, no, that term doesn't justify it. Let's just say I was sort of devastated. It's not something I'm ready to talk about right now. It was an issue about my relationship with my boyfriend but later got fixed (I can't say it with a straight face though, who am I fooling?) which was not much of a big thing but if you're a girl like me, you'd understand.
The morning after, we were already in good terms but I felt so drained and empty, I couldn't even eat anything. Even if I ate, I couldn't digest it. So you know what happened, I didn't properly ad to compensate for my sadness, I craved for cola, which was NOT good for me, for my stomach considering I haven't eaten anything decent that day and it was already past lunchtime. I may be trying to kill myself that time by satisfying my emotional distress. (Now you have the other reason why I had an attack the next day plus the effect that for that whole week I already wasn't eating properly.)

It's funny I even got to make a photographic scene of the cola I drank as we were leaving for Batangas, I already replaced the liquid inside of it with water. Obviously I was still in the right frame of mind that time. And did I mention how long it has take before you can have a ride from Baco back to Calapan City? (where we can get a ride to Calapan Port) I can't recall how long we waited but I decided to take my time taking some photos before I left.

You know how much I love VSCO so these photos were taken from my phone and have been edited with VSCO.

Standing on top of these rocks and taking a photo from the top view

Mind you, it was really frustrating because I was trying to avoid catching my ugly feet LOOOL

Surface level perspective

Honestly, I don't really know how and what to call this view. I just like taking pictures on different perspectives

Surface level perspective

Yep, I placed my phone on the road. It is evident that vehicles hardly pass by since it's a provincial national road.

Poinsettia

Honestly the photo didn't do the plant any justice. I really was amazed by the nature and how everything is different and better in the province. Saw some of these plants in Makati, and I am telling you, the difference is a lot to be distinguished.

Just passed by a cow and looking magnificent just sitting there having the best luncheon of his life.

Some random leaf on the roadside

I tried to take some photos of the breath-taking view on the road but the jeepney was running too fast I couldn't get a decent shot so I got this instead:

I really tried to get a good photo but when you're in a vehicle moving for 120-140kph, I don't know whether to pray for my soul or a good photo.
But I did resort to taking GIFs..

IMG20180121150433.gif

From the GIFs I took, it should be pretty obvious how fast the jeepney I was riding. I wanted to show you guys how beautiful the province is. How relaxing and stress free the environment was. Just what I needed at that time. I missed traveling a lot. Last year, 2017 was my birth year in venturing the traveling world. I hope 2018 will kind to grant me opportunities for travel and more places to reach and explore.

When we arrived at Calapan Port, I was stunned by the view. I think it was the first time I saw the famous Mt. Halcon at a good view from the port. The weather was nice so it gave way for the view, though the clouds were covering the mountain a little.

Mt. Halcon

And again, the photo didn't do it anyn justice how captivating the view was at that moment. My amateur photography skills didn't do it any justice. I only wish I had a better and high end camera, I could've got a better photo than this, at the very least.

And that my dear Steemit friends, is my one day trip to Mindoro. I wish I could've stayed longer, could've went to more places there. In the future, maybe, I'll be sharing more of my Mindoro escapades to all of you :) But for now, here's what I can share...

Keep Steeming Everyone! :)

Here's some awkward photos of me with Mt. Halcon in the background :D unfiltered so you can see the beauty of the mountain even if I'm blocking the view LOL

You have to take care of your stomach and eat more often. Have snacks or seeds with you anywhere you go in case you get just a bit hungry and you can't have a lunch. It is not okay to ignore the health issues.

I hope you will be okay and never make so long rides without eating. Great post again!

It's nice to know you got to read my post! I'm not on Steemit all the time though. Thank you for your concern and advice! I definitely learned my lesson now and I'll be taking good care of my health.
