Ohayō gozaimasu!

Today, I will be sharing some photos about our dinner in Otabeya in Tacloban City.

I've been craving for ramen for months now but unfortunately when Robinson's Place had a fire incident few months ago it still hasn't opened until now. Rai Rai Ken has a branch in Rob, and whenever I crave for a decent ramen, this place is probably one of the best in Tacloban so far. I hope they'll start operating again soon.

A good friend wanted to hang out and catch up so we decided to meet in Tcaloban and started the night with a tonkotsu ramen at Otabeya. By the way, we heard about this place via Facebook and decided to try it out.

**Otabeya** is located at Esperas Avenue near Tacloban Astrodome. It wasn't actually that hard to find the place. It looked so quite outside but don't hesitate to go upstairs, they're at the 2nd floor.

Their business hours is from Wednesday to Saturday (5:00PM to 10:00PM) last order 9:30PM. And on Sundays they're open at 4:30PM to 9:30PM, last order is at 9:00PM.

They have more than 10 tables inside, and the place wasn't so crowded when we went there. The interior has somewhat japanese feels.

The staff were friendly and accommodating. It was our first time so we had few questions about what to order and they were so polite and very patient. Having a good staff in a business is really important.

Look! Its a really cute set up. By the way, don’t worry if you don’t use chopsticks, you may request for a spoon and fork. :)

In just 10 minutes, the food was served.

**OTABEYA’S SPICY TONKOTSU RAMEN**

This is their house specialty. According to their menu, these are home-made noodles in rich soy sauce flavored pork and fish broth topped with chashu, scallion, and ajitama.

Chashu is the cut of pork you see on top of the ramen. It was cooked in low heat for a very long time making it so tender.

Ajitama (seasoned egg) is another ramen topping.

UME-SHU (with soda)

We wanted to try something different so we ordered **Ume-shu**. They say its one of Japan's most popular liquor. According yo online dictionaries, Ume is a fleshy yellow fruit which is mainly used to make drinks.
As a review, well it tasted fine but I'd still prefer a bottle of San Mig Apple over a Japanese Ume-shu or a Korean Soju. Haha.

PORK GYOZA

We also tried one of their side dishes which is Pork Gyoza. Its a homemade pan-fried pork dumpling and is one of ramen's perfect partner.

This is how they collect the payment. :)

My total bill was 400Php ($8)
Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen - 230.00Php ($4.6)
Ume-shu (with soda) - 80.00Php ($1.6)
Pork Gyoza - 90.00Php ($1.8)

I enjoyed the ramen. It really satisfied my cravings. I hope to visit the place again soon. :)
