A simple moment looking for takjil with my little family
Ramadan afternoons always have a different atmosphere. The air feels cooler, and the streets begin to bustle with people seeking snacks to break their fast. Today, I took my little family for a short walk around the Rangkaya intersection to find some snacks to break the fast with.
This simple trip was enjoyable because I got to spend time with my wife and little daughter. Our daughter seemed very happy to be taken out of the house. Along the way, she saw many vendors selling a variety of foods, from fried foods and refreshing drinks to traditional cakes.
Among the many choices of snacks for breaking the fast, my attention was drawn to a seller of bamboo putu. The fragrant aroma of freshly cooked bamboo putu immediately wafted in, drawing me in to buy some. The warm smoke rising from the bamboo steamer piqued the appetite of anyone passing by.
I stopped for a moment and ordered some bamboo putu to take home. The price was very affordable, Rp. 5,000 per pack containing Lia's bamboo putu fruit. Without hesitation, I bought two packs, for a total of Rp. 10,000.
My little daughter seemed curious to watch the cake-making process. The vendor skillfully poured the flour mixture into a small bamboo tube, then steamed it until cooked. The bamboo putu was then served sprinkled with grated coconut and brown sugar. The aroma was truly enticing.

After purchasing the takjil, we continued our journey home. Even though it was only a short walk, this kind of togetherness felt very meaningful to me. Small moments with family often bring the simplest yet most precious joys. When we arrived home, we prepared food for breaking the fast. When it was time to break the fast, the bamboo putu we bought earlier became one of the favorite snacks on the table.
It was sweet, soft, and perfect to enjoy after a long day of fasting. I felt grateful to be able to enjoy Ramadan with my little family. It doesn't need to be anything fancy; just being together like an evening walk looking for takjil was enough to make my heart happy. May this simple togetherness always be a beautiful memory for our family, and may this Ramadan bring many blessings, happiness, and prosperity to us all.
