Oceano Dunes
Oceano Dunes is one of the only California Beaches where you can drive a vehicle directly on the beach. Not only that but they allow camping, ATV's and dirt bikes! There's a couple different rental places just around the way where you can get motorcyles and the proper gear to ride. They like to bring the big tucks out, the campers and RV's as well. I can see it getting pretty wild out here if the area isn't patrolled.
The one downside to camping in the area is that it's extremely loud and feels more like a giant party rather than a cozy little campground. But really, who comes here thinking it's going to be a quiet place? It's not hard to tell once you get to this part of the beach, this is where the party starts. I would think the beach is patrolled by ATV, maybe even dune buggies, there has to be speed limit right?
I grew up in California, San Jose, and went to the beach a lot. All the times driving down the 101 or 1, going through San Luis Obispo then through Santa Maria, we never stopped at Oceano Dunes. Darn! haha
San Jose is a very nice city! One of the hotter places in the area. It's fun to drive the 1 South. Follow me on my journey!
