RE: The only thing stopping Trump and totalitarianism..

in #trump8 years ago

what's more important than how much money people have in their account is how they feel about it. $500 is an arbitrary amount of money. How people feel about it reveals how they feel about the economy in general and if people feel good they tend to do things that actually keep the economy going. More importantly this survey is pretty meaningless by itself, what would be interesting would be to see how these answers have changed over time. How many had $500 in an account last year? How about 4 or 6 years ago? How did they feel about it at that time?

Sort:

I think we are going to have to agree to disagree.

A person's economic well being ( not having 500$) is not the same as the economy's well being , economy produces the gains which accumulate to the top 1% , look at the GINI Index ranking

Morover stock market gain also flow mostly to the top wealthy elites

So you think you would be better off in Cameroon Guyana or Iran? So the 1%" and "top wealthy elites" why do you think a class warfare argument should be convincing? Here is what is happening with wages in the USA:

Anyhow, obviously international comparisons are silly, the real question we need to answer is about what the trend is in America. If we are defining having $500 as economic well being how many Americans had that much 2 or 4 or 6 years ago compared with now?
Probably one reason Americans are rightfully feeling great, besides the historically low unemployment, is the rising wages.

So you think you would be better off in Cameroon Guyana or Iran?

You really think that was the point ? this sort of gaslighting is not helpful for anyone.

LOL, so you think the goal with pointing out how silly that metric was to make you think you are crazy?

I like how you failed to answer any of my questions. I could gaslight you if you like, maybe your cognitive dissonance is causing you to feel gaslighted?

Me pointing out where USA ranks on GINI index leads you to think my point is that I/you would be better off in Cameroon Guyana or Iran ( or any of the top ranking 40ish) .

And as you think GINI Index is silly , our frame of references don't really allow us to have any fruitful conversation.

Have a good day .
:)

I asked you why you thought a class warfare based argument would be convincing from the jump. That was another question you were unable to answer. You are better off being poor in America than wealthy in Cameroon. "Income inequality" is meaningless, especially without any context, like that figure provides.

Class warfare arguments like your are based on flawed premises and are essentially emotional arguments, is wealth a zero sum game?

Does a wealthy person having a lot of money mean there is less for you to make or prevent you from making money?
