I really can't even fathom all the terrible knock-on effects of Trump's presidency.

On public health alone there is so much that will be put at risk globally.

If you aren't aware, Republicans have been attacking PEPFAR in recent years. This is the program that combats HIV/AIDS globally. Ironically George W. Bush created it - one of the best things he ever did and one of the best things the US government has ever done.

It has been a major part of the reduction in HIV infections and deaths, particularly in Africa. PEPFAR also operates in Ukraine. The HIV/AIDS organization I worked with there partnered with PEPFAR.

Republicans have accused PEPFAR of funding abortions since some organizations that receive PEPFAR funding also perform abortions. But the Hyde Amendment prevents federal funding being used to pay for abortions. They are entirely separate funds. PEPFAR funding can't be used on abortion.

This is how the Heritage Foundation talks about HIV/AIDS. They call it a "lifestyle disease" that should be suppressed with "legal sanctions" rather than medication.

Heritage Foundation were the authors of Project 2025 and many Heritage Foundation staff were part of Trump's Administration. The author of this report below was Tim Meisburger, Trump's appointee to USAID. Meisburger called the January 6 insurrection peaceful and questioned the 2020 election.
